Oh wow! When will you have another birthday please, April - I could do with some of that cake every week. Clearly will have to do some remedial work on the tea since London Fog is not so good with milk or lemon ;)

Moose on the loose. How would your two year old feel about a moose dropping into his daycare? :D :D :D

Why did you have to change classrooms, Johnney?
A Moose broke the window, Mummy.
Now Johnney, what have I told you about making up stories .....

That story also answers the question: how many men does it take to lift a two year old moose? :D :D :D

At the start of this phase of Old Weather Whaling Helen J was one of a few our merry band who kindly offered to take on a whaler, and settled on the Fleetwing. I believe that the keeper being the Captain's daughter was an attraction to Helen who supported people in her life as a Franciscan nun and felt a connection with Adeline.
I have written a short report about Adeline Heppingstone, and her whaling voyage, as a 'Thank You' to Helen.

Please click on the logbook to go to the full article :)

Thank you for posting that, Joan. Very interesting to read.
And thank you, Helen, for doing the voyage and all the research. You will not be forgotten.

Enjoying the odd glimpse at one of the Shetland webcams. And suddenly there's a chap setting the main square up for Christmas.

The GPS is a wonderful thing...
A friend is coming to visit and she entered my street. It took her to the street she entered.
We don't know where she is, but after she entered the name of a nearby restaurant, the GPS said she should be here in 15 minutes.

And all of you make the list of things I am thankful for this year. Both what you do for climate and history and the "fellowship" OW fosters. Thank you all.

8-) 8-) 8-)

They're better in real life, though. We got to see them when we were in the Takhini Hotsprings one winter night. Temperatures in the minus 20s, but the water was lovely and warm. You just kept having to put your head underwater every so often to get the ice out of your hair, eyebrows and eyelashes. It was, however, a very cold walk to and from the unheated changing rooms to the hotspring. :D
