Lancashire Wildlife Trust have several projects to maintain and restore the lowland peat bogs in the region including creating a 'Carbon Farm' - taking over fields adjacent to remaining peat bog and replanting with sphagnum moss.

Interesting stuff. The fat storing would have been very helpful in the ice age. Less so with the central heating and the easy access to cake!

Also good to see that she's got some nice warm clothing. The dress on the ship was very pretty but a bit diaphanous for arctic conditions. (I can see both images OK)

Frost on the fields near me when I went for a walk this morning but OK in the garden so beans and tomatoes still surviving. :)
