January 1884 is complete. I have signed up for February 1884.

Lackawanna 1884, Jan 21 around 615PM. A comet visible bearing WSW (psc) in the constellation of Cetus. Comet's altitude 20deg50', Comet's Right Asin 1h45m00. Declination 0deg.
Location - At sea making passage to Payta, Peru.

Lackawanna June part 1 needs to be completed. I was thinking BillNoise would get to that after finishing May. Did you need me to tackle it?

Question - in the Course Steered column, the log is replaced by "Ship's Head". They are at anchor at the moment. Should I follow the 'type what you see' rule or can I skip this? It took me awhile to catch on to what they were doing so several of my saved logs already have the direction the...

There is a tiny bit of June to do - hopefully that will follow from the May data set. I'm off to find a new year to work on.

December 1873 is complete. I think it rained nearly every day in December 1973 in Nagasaki, Japan. Sounded bleak.

And for fun there was either shore leave or observing a court martial - and sometimes the former, led to being the star of the latter ... that being the nature of shore leave.

Finished Nov 1873. Starting on Dec 1873.

October 1873 is complete. Signed up for November. Also started BOINC as part of the Old Weather team.

Lackawanna 1873, at anchor off Kobe, Japan, October 26, 1873: At 6.20 [pm] observed a brilliant meteor that originated in the constellation Andromeda passed over an arc of about 120deg to the Wd and disappeared in the constellation Bootes. A slight hissing noise could be heard as it passed overhead....

Sept 1873 is complete. I've started on Oct 1873 and put my name in the tracker. Just FYI.

Will do. It's amazing they had enough hands to do all the work. A whole bunch of the crew seemed to be in solitary, in double irons, and on bread-water every day except Wed and Sunday after being court martially.

August 1873 complete. Reserve Sept 1873 for me. Just finished a short trip to Russian Tartary (Siberia) and now on to Japan. Lots of travel in 1873.

July 1873 is complete. I have started on August 1873.
