Nice dawn but turned out to be a messy day with some gusts and threatening rain. (Wide angle lens, hence bent light polls)

First , the picture is COOL! That's worth getting up before the sun well worth it. You know what they say, Red sun in the morning....
The weather map is very interesting. It makes the continent/ Island argument complicated. I am going to have to go back and look at world isobars more closely. Thanks for the view

5 min hammering down rain (9.8mm in 5 a min burst) then this.
Almost a double rainbow. Camera does not do justice to the main bow colours.
Standing under my varanda, (not out in the drizzel).

Down 25 degree F. WOW.Lucky no if no tornadoes. If that happens in the plains or lower Great Lakes- there are bound to be twisters.
Stay safe- and warm.

It can get pretty windy here with trees taking down power lines, but we don't normally get tornadoes.

FYI.
What does the "Feels like" temp mean?

https://www.abc.net.au/news/2022-05-31/ ... /101110598

The key bit I learned from this is that the Feels like temp is for when you are appropriately dressed for the season.

Current temp now (at 0717) is 8c feels like 6c and is reasonable calm. Wind expected to increase to 40km/h mid day with a temp of 12c and a feel like a lot less.
That will not bother me as I will be in the pub having a beer and a meal. Oh, then I have to go outside.

And for the rest of the east-coast.

"Feels Like" your trip will be just in time.
Also- just wondering, what does one have with a beer at an Australian pub on a weekday evening?

Hi Morgan.
Just about anything.
Most pubs will either have their own resturant of something like a Chinease cafe.

A pie and a pint used to be the norn for lunch, then the fun police came to be. (Not a bad idea actually )

Top 10 pub meals (not in any order) from https://www.goodfood.com.au/eat-out/ten ... 119-11jkqa
Calamari rings
The "Insert Pub Name Here" burger
Roast of the day
The mixed grill
Wedges with sweet chilli and sour cream
Chicken parmigiana
Steak - Chips and salad or veg and mash?
Prawns on anything - "You know what this pizza / steak / schnitzel / pasta / jacket potato / curry / martini glass of iceberg lettuce needs? Prawns!"
Fish and chips
Nachos

We eat gud downunder, yes?

I was never a fan of 'Feels like"

Anyway, in Canada, they got a bunch of people and put them into a climate controlled room in which they good adjust temperature, wind and humidity. Then they asked people to estimate the temperature. So, when it's hot and very humid, it feels hotter than it really is. Similarly, if it's cold and very humid it feels colder. And, of course, cold and windy feels colder than it really is.

On the weather note, we have "Wind -chill factor" and "Heat index." Neither effects us too much as we are not that cold and it gets REALLY dry when it is hot here, In the South Eastern US the heat index is a big thing because it considers humidity.

As for food- thanks. Prawns sound great! Unhappily, we don't have pubs per se. Bars that cater to young people or drunks. There are micro breweries popping up here and there now - some of the "Source Local" theme. Some have good food and the beer is often pretty good- I am told by sons -in-law. The "Pubs" we have are Irish themed knock-offs which offend the good people of Ireland. Big on green beer and potato based menu items.
I am still wondering about the schnitzel with prawns.
9:00 am and I am hungry for what we call a "Shrimp cocktail. " (Tomato-y horseradish dipping sauce.)
Thanks. Gud eating!
