@Joan: No luck with that Hawaiian bay, but with a lot of imagination maybe one could read (both) the text as Kaiula? Kailua Bay is not too far from the westernmost point of the island

My ship has been travelling through the Seto Inland Sea which doesn't seem to be in the China Pilot. I managed to find this online ... I didn't see it under the Japan links, here is the link in case it would be useful to include it.

I tried the maps provided on this site, they were fine for the Lower Yangtze, but for the upper Yangtze I couldn't find a lot of the places ... managed to find this online, "Sailing Directions for the Coast of China". It had most of the places mentioned in the logs.

Agrees with description in Coral's log:
'Daglitts Island to West Lanicourt Rocks to SEast'.
