Such a dear, kind soul. We had never met and wrote on line personally only a couple times, but I felt as though she was a true friend. In these past couple years of staying close to home, she made my view of the world much larger and my life truly richer. My sincere condolences to all of you who knew her personally.
Most sincerely,
Morgan

Finally, a useful insert in the log book. If you need anything, please fill it out and send it on the Officer-In-Charge.

Fill in the form, please, and submit it, signed appropriately, through the proper channels. Do you think you're on the USS Concord and you can just do things any old way you fell like? If so, you've got another think coming, as my mother used to say.

O, to be an old-timey officer and to have to guess how many spare pairs of underwear your crew could possibly go through on a journey...

One size fits all. :D Maybe only men of a certain size could join the Navy. That would simplify matters greatly!

I'd like calf-skin shoes and silk handkies, please. (That is what they mean isn't it?) Black will work- but white would be better. I have large feet for a modern woman- so men's shoe from a century ago just might fit.

The site of the wreck of USS Jacob Jones has been discovered off Cornwall. Some 66 men lost their lives when she was torpedoed in 1917.

I spent 20 summers as a Forest Fire meteorologist with the Yukon Fire Service. This morning, on CBC, they had a very interesting article about Forest Fires. I hope this is available outside Canada. I had to scroll down a bit to find the Play Segment link. It's about 19 minutes long.
