I've seen those drawing before and am more than happy to see them again. They are quite enchanting! :D

I wonder if it is an attempt to sabotage climate research?
Really enjoying this one, thanks for mentioning it.

After all the staring at maps over the years I would have expected to do better at Worldle (at least with coastal countries!), but will persist

I guess the only way I could count the stars is with a piece of clear plastic with the rectangle drawn on it.
Then use a texta to mark the stars as I would forget which I had counted.
When it's not raining we can get some remarkably clear nights out of town.

I agree with you, Stuart. If you don't have very dark skies you can see the 'marker' stars that limit the shape you are counting in. If you have dark skies it's almost too confusing, which is a nice problem to have I guess :)

Many of you will remember the "dotter" from Royal Navy logs....

Title: USS VILLALOBOS (PG-42)
Caption: Chief Petty Officer poses on the fantail, circa 1907-1908. Note wicker chairs and three-pounder gun.
The gun is fitted with a "dotter" sighting training device.

Entertaining brain stuff. Got to admit that the top image of the lozenges made me feel a bit seasick

I must be peculiar. The lozenges just sat there, the face looked OK at a glance but as soon as I looked for a bit longer then the odd lips showed up like a beacon. I'm not sure what I was supposed to see with the some of the others but they weren't disturbing. Pity the exhibition is at the other end of the country, if it travels nearer to home I'd like to experience the full thing and read the explanations which I think they supply.

I guess I'm peculiar too :D
I have seen some where the lozenges moved, but they didn't in this one.

The weird thing is, if you stop and stare at the image, you should get the leaves to stay still. The illusion of movement comes from the heavy contrast in the colors.

The odd lips were the first thing I spotted too.
