Dockside Gallery
Re: Dockside Gallery
I like that look on his face 'I've been here so often before, but I've got someone offering extra supplications to the Transcription Gods for this one!'
Had a look at the log book - what a mess

OW'ers rushing off to tackle new logbooks.
Re: Dockside Gallery
Tally-ho!
Re: Dockside Gallery
I guess that their favourite bit is the water jump?
Re: Dockside Gallery
When Alexander saw the breath of his transcriptions, he wept for there were no more logbooks to conquer.
So great was his sorrow that not even his fellow OW'er's offerings of fruit and music could penetrate it, nor their kind and well-meant words of advice.
While looking up the exact words of the quote, I came across something interesting: Apparently, Alexander never actually said this - in fact, he likely said the opposite!
I did consider using that instead, but I believe this actually fits OW better because our task is not endless: The number of logbooks in the world is finite, so that means we will reach an end one day.
Perhaps I will even live to see that end, and weep.
Re: Dockside Gallery
I don't think even chocolate will work
From what I remember from reading about Alexander the alternative quote does seem much more likely. I think he only stopped going east because his troops were starting to complain that they hadn't been home for many years.
As well as the log book numbers being finite (although large) we need to discourage anyone developing AI that can read handwriting!

Re: Dockside Gallery
Good one!
Re: Dockside Gallery
Great image and caption, Chris. One of your best so far, I think.
I'm not sure that AI will ever handle Lieut. Scrawl, but I have been wrong before. As for running out of logbooks, it will be a sad day.

Re: Dockside Gallery
Great picture and words Chris Wonderful.
If they ever get AI sorted I have a pair of scissors and I know how to follow the wire out of the back of the machine to the plug. Hehehe

Re: Dockside Gallery
OW'er mod (on the left) attempting to get more recruits.
Re: Dockside Gallery
What a clever choice the mod has made. The list of White Rocks, Priest Rocks, and Seal Islands has caught the imagination of the young man instantly. And there's a baby in the next room - this project will need a new generation because it's going to last that long. Yeh!
Re: Dockside Gallery
I don't know... The woman with the cane doesn't look all that keen, and I can see by the way she's holding her husband's arm she's thinking, "If you spend one minute of time on this ridiculous project instead of helping me around the house, you won't know what hit you!"

Re: Dockside Gallery
She may be warning him. From her rather stiff pose, it looks like she has neck pain from struggling to read the logs. The cane suggests that she has spent too much time sitting in front of the computer
Maybe he can convert the kid under the desk who is looking out curiously!
Re: Dockside Gallery
And there is a woman out the window; appears to be eavesdropping. Is she interested or is she concerned this is some cult or secret society they may be getting themselves into???
Re: Dockside Gallery
Myself (on the left), unable to do OW and waiting for a new laptop due to the old one having died of hard drive failure.
As mentioned elsewhere, I had to get a new computer this past week. Didn't take that long, but it felt like an eternity.
