Oh, I remember rain.
I remember what it smelled like, just as one remembers the smell of their favorite chocolate cake.
I remember what it sounds like, like the rustle of smooth satin
I remember the thrill of a crack of thunder and its roll across the prairie -like the Angels bowling in the heavens.
I remember watching lightening high in the sky at a distance like a Las Vega light show
I remember the squish of mud in my toes as I waded in puddles.
I remember walking in my bellbottom jeans, soaked to my knees weighing a ton.
I remember watching the lightning hit a transformer, and a whole block of blue- bright explosions as each transformer in line blew.
I remember talking to an old man on the telephone as he sat in the dark- I was the one at the utility whose phone he could reach.
I remember the quiet as the rain stopped and the first birds to break the silence.
I remember my glasses fogging up- and not because of my face mask.
I remember worms on the school asphalt playground trying to get away.
I remember sliding on the grass- whether I intended to, or not.
I remember standing at the door, my nose pressed against the screen mesmerized as it came down.
Yes, I remember rain.

That's lovely, Morgan :)
All of those resonate with me. But perhaps the strongest for me is the song of blackbirds after rainfall. Beautiful.

Recovering from the aftermath of a derecho that came through the area earlier this week. My neighborhood didn't get the worst of it, but we went a few days without power.

Wow!
A few days without power would be rough, but I guess it could have been a lot worse.

That would be so nerve-wracking! I'm glad you made it through. I imagine you lost everything in your fridge and freezer.

4pm:
Opened my front door.
Stepped out.
Backed up.
Closed my front door.

Weather forecast claims it is 92F and feels like 103F.

My apartment is about 80F. Doesn't feel too bad.
I have a nice little fan that is a big help.

Weather here in Northern Virginia been storms upon storms since yesterday afternoon. My Dad and brother were meant to fly home from Boston yesterday and kept getting delayed and then canceled because the storms had a flight stop order due to D.C. flooding. Today is attempt #2 to get back, supposed to be more rain today but only showers not thunderstorms. More storms next week I think, too.

RAIN We had rain!! 0.1 inch by my back yard gauge. But is sounded and smelled like rain, complete with rolling thunder and 25,000 lightning strikes throughout the state. Not the end of the drought.
Stuart- Love the sunset. I am always warry, however, with a lovely one as that- is there someone in trouble with a forest fire (or a volcano.)

At 1100 hrs AEST my time today, the temp in Sydney was 16c, Vancouver 17c and London 16c.
Fairly consistant temps considering the time zones (17hrs and 9hrs behind Sydney)
