Thank you all for the birthday wishes! It was a very nice day - with chocolate, naturally! And, the Cowboys danced a jig on the Eagles!
I hope everyone here at Old Weather is doing well - I keep trying to load the newish software on my computer, and it doesn't work (which is embarrassing considering what I do for a living

It is the 40th anniversary of the lowest recorded temperature in the UK (-27.4 C at Braemar in the Scottish Highlands). It was -26 in Oxford and Toxteth, my feral cat friend, refused to go out and spent the night in front of the fire with me in the living room near the kitchen to save the pipes from freezing and bursting.
