We have been drifting in ice now for a couple of week in Melville Bay W. Greenland.
I wonder if it is part of some observations or we are just stuck?
As we were intending to go to Fredericksdal I guess we are stuck, in company with USS Edisto.

Seems we were part of an Ice movement study with other vessels.

Finally after over a month drifting we are on the move, but it puzzles me where, it's somewhere called 'ice movement element B' (later called Baker)

It might be a specific location. I've seen Storis reference locations with Alpha, Baker etc. Or, maybe it's some sot of transmitter placed on the ice so that the movement can be tracked by radio.

Kevin replied that it is probably part of Operation Blue Jay.

There's no worry about that. My patience has been sorely tested by Toby the Cat, and there are few humans in the world who could match him for being annoying.  ;D ;D ;D

The voyage for 1951 is here (https://drive.google.com/open?id=1rOUdMoOmIcWmGqhDWXjJqPJ2lftBt1lK). They were in Thule and Eureka. They also stopped briefly off an abandoned RCMP post on the Bache Peninsula.

Had not realised they got that far north in the islands.

Had not realised they got that far north in the islands.

I thought they would go up to Alert, 82o30N  62o22W,  but not this year. They did in  '48 and '50. I'll be working on '52 aft I go to the gym...
