Thanks Randi.
I can see that now but I will admit it was the last thing I would have been expecting to see.

Nice read and nice find.  ;)

I have to go back to Storis. There are several year's worth of data waiting for me.

I've just finished the second of the two 1945 voyages. The plot can be seen here (https://drive.google.com/open?id=19_3QGerK9qOafFpZmLpH0NyGi7FhoJhJ).

Also, on the last day of the voyage, their airplane was launched but it crashed into the sea, exploded and sank into the sea just 100 yards off their port bow. Two men were fatally injured:

The relevant page is here (https://catalog.archives.gov/OpaAPI/media/24428315/content/dc-metro/rg-026/587169/0001-A1/Eastwind-WAG-279-1945/Eastwind-WAG-279-1945_0537.JPG).

I think it must have been so very hard on the families, losing sons, husbands and fathers so soon after the war was over. I know how stressed my grandmother, mother and aunts were as the war was coming to an end, and then they were so relieved when it was over and my grandmother's two sons and two sons-in-law made it through to the end.
