EX-ADMIRAL DIES THURSDAY Retired Rear Admiral Ralph Waldo Dempwolf, 84, U.S. Coast Guard, a native Yorker, died Thursday in New London, Conn., where he resided since his retirement in 1945. He entered the Coast Guard Academy Hospital in New London six months ago. Admiral Dempwolf was born in York August 14, 1881, the son of the late Ernest A. Dempwolf and Anna L. Wagner Dempwolf. He was graduated from York County Academy and York Collegiate Institute and then joined the Coast Guard when it was known as the Revenue Cutter Sen-ice. He received his first commission in 1905 and later commanded a number of cutters and destroyers. During World War H he was commander of the Third Coast Guard district in New York City, and later was transferred to Cleveland, 0., with jurisdiction over ice-breaking and merchant marine action on the Great Lakes. He also served during World War I. His career with the Coast Guard spanned 40 years. Admiral Dempwolf is survived by his wife, Mrs. Mabelte Klapp Dempwolf: three sisters, Mrs. Dorothy Dennis of Pass Christian, Miss.: Mrs. Louise D. Reiff of Abbottstown R. 1, and Mrs. Harold G. Traber of Oreland. Pa. Funeral services will be held at the Coast Guard academy chapel, New London. Burial will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery, York.

Gunner Wm Woods returned from 2 days' leave granted by Comdg Officer.

E. Swift Train of Santa Cruz, has resigned his position as secretary-treasurer producing manager of the Sunset Motion Picture Co., having been appointed by the Treasury De-patrment of the United States government, manager of the Arctic Expedition undertaken by the government to obtain moving pictures of Alaska and the Arctic regions. The expedition will leave Seattle in the Revenue Cutter Hear on Sunday, May 10, and is one of the most completely and expensively equipped enterprises yet projected. Many months will be necessary in the pack ice and the return trip will not be made possibly until December.

Ordinarily discharged N. Porter, fireman, and W. S. Fulmore, coal heaver, upon recommendation of board of investigation of 9th instant and  authority of Department telegram of 11th instant.

Detailed seaman J. Findlay as assistant master-at-arms, acting, by order of Commanding Officer.

H.C.Fassett used to be the resident naturalist on the Albatross.  Works for the Fisheries Commission in the Alaska region now.  Possibly in charge of the area.  St Pauls is the main town near the Fur Seal Rookeries.
